Pokémon TCG: Delta Reign — Top Chase Cards, Mega Rayquaza, and the Weather Trio!

The Pokémon Trading Card Game community always gets excited when a new expansion brings powerful Pokémon, beautiful artwork, and exciting cards to collect. Pokémon TCG: Delta Reign has plenty of potential to get collectors and competitive players talking, especially with its Mega Evolution Pokémon, rare cards, and legendary favourites.

Whether you enjoy opening booster packs, collecting your favourite Pokémon, or searching for cards that could become valuable over time, there is always something exciting about a new set. One of the most interesting parts of a new release is predicting which cards everyone will be hunting for.

In this blog, I'll share my personal thoughts and online chitchat on the biggest chase cards in Delta Reign, the legendary Pokémon that could attract collector attention, and the cards I think fans will be talking about the most.

Mega Rayquaza Takes the Spotlight

When talking about Legendary Pokémon, it is difficult not to mention Rayquaza. Known for its incredible design and powerful presence in the Pokémon franchise, Rayquaza has remained a fan favourite for years.

Mega Rayquaza takes things to another level with its striking Mega Evolution design. In my opinion, Mega Rayquaza ex could be one of the biggest attractions in Delta Reign, especially for collectors who love high-rarity cards and impressive artwork.

Collectors often look for cards featuring popular Pokémon, particularly when the illustrations stand out from the rest of the set. Competitive players, meanwhile, will want to see whether the card has the attacks, abilities, and overall power needed to make an impact in tournament decks.

That combination of collector appeal and potential competitive relevance is why Mega Rayquaza ex would be high on my watchlist. With both a Special Illustration Rare and a gold Mega Hyper Rare version on the chase list, I think Rayquaza could be one of the main talking points surrounding this expansion.

The Weather Trio: Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza

One of the most iconic legendary groups in Pokémon history is the Weather Trio, consisting of Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza. These three Pokémon have an important connection in Pokémon lore, making them favourites among fans of the franchise.

Kyogre represents the sea and is associated with rain, while Groudon represents the land and is associated with drought. Their legendary rivalry can cause enormous conflict, with Rayquaza famously stepping in to stop their clashes.

For collectors, the Weather Trio is an exciting combination because each Pokémon has its own identity and dedicated fanbase. Some collectors may want to collect all three, while others might focus on their favourite Legendary Pokémon.

Top Chase Cards in Delta Reign

Delta Reign has several exciting chase cards that could attract both collectors and competitive players. From high-rarity Mega Rayquaza ex cards to beautifully illustrated Supporters and unique Stadium cards, these are the cards I think people will be hunting for the most.

1. Mega Rayquaza ex (Special Illustration Rare)

Mega Rayquaza ex in Special Illustration Rare form could be the number-one chase card in Delta Reign. Rayquaza is already one of the most popular Legendary Pokémon, and detailed background artwork by Kazuki Minami would make this card especially exciting for collectors who appreciate standout illustrations.

Special Illustration Rares often attract attention because of their distinctive artwork and rarity. I think this version of Mega Rayquaza ex could become a major target for fans who want a memorable centrepiece for their collection.

2. Mega Rayquaza ex (Mega Hyper Rare)

The gold Mega Hyper Rare version of Mega Rayquaza ex could be another major target for high-rarity collectors. Its gold design and premium appearance could make it one of the most exciting cards to pull from the set.

In my opinion, having two different high-rarity versions of such a popular Pokémon makes the chase even more interesting. Collectors may want to hunt for the Special Illustration Rare, the Mega Hyper Rare, or even both to complete their Mega Rayquaza collection.

3. Raikou ex (Special Illustration Rare)

Raikou ex in Special Illustration Rare form could be another desirable pull for fans of Legendary Pokémon. As one of the legendary beasts, Raikou has a distinctive design and a dedicated following among Pokémon fans.

I think its appeal will come from the combination of character popularity, unique artwork, and the excitement of finding a rare card in a booster pack. Depending on the final market demand and competitive performance, this card could become another important chase in Delta Reign.

4. Zinnia's Trust (Special Illustration Rare (Supporter))

Special Illustration Rare Supporter cards can be popular with collectors because of their distinctive artwork and character appeal. In my opinion, Zinnia's Trust could stand out for fans who enjoy collecting beautifully illustrated Trainer cards.

Supporter cards can also have a place in competitive decks, depending on their effects and usefulness. That means Zinnia's Trust could appeal to more than just collectors if players find it useful in their strategies.

For me, the combination of character popularity, artwork, and potential gameplay relevance makes this a card worth watching.

5. Honorable Mentions: Mega Golisopod ex, Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex, and Legendary Stadiums

Beyond the biggest chase cards, Mega Golisopod ex, Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex, and the Legendary Stadiums could also attract attention for their unique artwork and potential competitive value. The split-card illustrations of Legendary Trench, Legendary Summit, and Legendary Lava Lake offer something distinctive for collectors, while the Mega Evolution Pokémon ex could become desirable additions to competitive decks if their abilities and synergies prove effective.

Ultimately, a card's chase potential depends on more than rarity alone. Popular Pokémon, standout artwork, competitive usefulness, and overall collector demand can all influence a card's appeal. Cards such as Zinnia's Trust may also gain attention if they provide useful advantages in battle, while Delta Reign could inspire new strategies as players experiment with different combinations.

One of the most interesting aspects of a new Pokémon TCG expansion is how quickly opinions can change once cards are tested in real matches. A card that initially flies under the radar may become highly sought after if players discover a powerful interaction or tournament-winning strategy.

However, popularity does not guarantee long-term price growth. Card values can fluctuate with supply, demand, tournament results, and condition. Whether you're collecting your favorite artwork or building a competitive deck, the most exciting cards are often those that offer something special to both audiences.

Final Thoughts: Which Delta Reign Cards Will Be the Biggest Hits?

For me, Mega Rayquaza ex is one of the most exciting potential chase cards in Delta Reign. Both the Special Illustration Rare and the gold Mega Hyper Rare versions could attract attention from collectors, while Raikou ex and Zinnia's Trust offer other interesting possibilities.

I also think Mega Golisopod ex, Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex, and the Legendary Stadiums could make the set more interesting for people who enjoy collecting unique cards or exploring new competitive strategies.

The Weather Trio adds another layer of excitement for fans of Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza. Their legendary history makes them memorable Pokémon, and collectors will always have their own favourites when deciding which cards to chase.

Ultimately, these are my personal opinions and predictions. Which cards become the biggest hits will depend on the confirmed card list, artwork, rarity, competitive usefulness, availability, and collector demand.

What do you think will be the biggest chase card in Delta Reign? Will you be hunting for Mega Rayquaza ex, Raikou ex, Zinnia's Trust, or one of the Mega Evolution cards?
